LETβS DIVE IN β¬οΈ
The Power of Journaling & Cohorts π
Having weekly check-ins with your players is a must. Daily deposits!
Pre & Post flow. Have players actively journal their thoughts to be more present and reflect.
Have people in your cohort who you donβt necessarily work with all the time. To have a better understanding of each individualβs background and how to get the most out of them.
Jerry Seinfeld was asked how his daily work routine has evolved over the years:Β
βItβs the exact same,β he said. βI do the exact same now as I did when I was 21 in 1975.βΒ
While Jerry sits down with his journal, he states,
βMy writing technique is just: You canβt do anything else. You donβt have to write, but you canβt do anything else.β
Thatβs your day? the interviewer asks. Thatβs what youβve done every day for thirty-eight years? That, to me, sounds torturous.
βIt is,β Seinfeld admits. βBut you know what? Your blessing in life is when you find the torture youβre comfortable withβ¦Find the torture youβre comfortable with, and youβll do well.β
Takeaways:
Significantly improved idea retention
Better focus on identifying the important
Lower stress/anxiety about "missing" things
To most, what Jerry Seinfeld does every day sounds like torture. But Seinfeld loves what he does. "I love my big, yellow legal pad," he said. "Once I get that pad open, I canβt stopβ¦the next thing I know, the day is gone.β
There is no secret. There is only the doing of the mundane, boring, torturous work, day after day.
Find the mundane, boring, torturous work you like, as Seinfeld said, "and youβll do well."
