FAVORITE THING WE READ: 💭
Adversity is part of the path. Maybe your season didn’t pan out to how you thought or wanted it to be. Injuries, transfers, burnt out, etc.
We came across a quote recently that blew our minds:
“Sometimes when you are in a dark place, you think you have been buried, but actually you have been planted.” -Christine Caine
Remember: Destruction and darkness are just precursors to your growth.
The story of the Chinese farmer reminded us how important it is to stay present, and when adversity hits you, MAYBE it’s not a bad thing.
A long time ago, a poor Chinese farmer lost a horse, and all the neighbors came around and said, “Well, that’s too bad.” The farmer said, “Maybe.” Shortly after, the horse returned, bringing another horse with him, and all the neighbors came around and said, “Well, that’s good fortune,” to which the farmer replied, “Maybe.” The next day, the farmer’s son was trying to tame the new horse and fell, breaking his leg, and all the neighbors came around and said, “Well, that’s too bad,” and the farmer replied, “Maybe.” Shortly after, the emperor declared war on a neighboring nation and ordered all the young men to come fight—many died or were severely maimed, but the farmer’s son was unable to fight and was spared due to his injury. And all the neighbors came around and said, “Well, that’s good fortune,” to which the farmer replied, “Maybe.” And so the story goes.
The point is the future will tell us whether our experiences of the past are good or bad. There’s no way of currently knowing, so you might as well enjoy the moment.
FAVORITE THING WE SAW:
It blows our minds how complicated coaches and players can make the game. We challenge you to make your practice planning, game planning, and skill workouts more straightforward. Coach Leonzo does a great job of giving us three simple examples of what players should do off the catch.
The key is the more you can practice what happens most in games while developing championship habits = growth.
Joke To Make You Think:
“When my grandfather came to America, he was told the streets were paved with gold. When he got to America, he learned three things:
1. The streets were not paved with gold,
2. The streets were not paved,
3. He was going to be the guy paving them.
Anything you start in life, you’re in that position.
