LETβS DIVE IN β¬οΈ
Culture πΊ
Culture is Really About β¬οΈπ
Verbalize the language thatβs used
Symbolize what symbols are important
Ritualize what repeated behaviors are involved
In more depth:
Verbalize: The best cultures have the best internal language. When youβre around an incredible culture you hear specific vernacular used that shows things are different here.
Examine: All Blacks being a Red Head v a Blue Head
Symbolize: What symbols are important and unique to that culture?
Example Sco Ducks, USC Fight On, Florida Gator Chomp.
Ritualize: Rituals or mantras teams use to create closeness or camaraderie.
Example is a teamβs unique handshake or high fives.
Must Add Action π₯
Why the Kingsβ offense is so hard to stop π
The Kingsβ π offense flows beautifully into the Next Best Action or NBA.
When you make the defense make enough decisions at speed, eventually they will make the wrong one physically or verbally.

Master the Moves: "You deal with these players, you've gotta know the names of the moves." - Coaches need to communicate effectively by using the correct terminology and understanding the language of the game, enabling stronger connections with players and efficient teamwork.
Actions Have Impact: "Actions have impact beyond you." - James Purchin reminds us that our actions resonate beyond ourselves, emphasizing the significance of making intentional choices and demonstrating positive behaviors that influence and inspire others.

Use Stories to Connect: People enjoy stories of athletes they can relate to. These stories create a powerful connection and help readers find inspiration and motivation from someone they admire.
The Power of Relationships: Building strong relationships with players is crucial. Coaches should invest time and effort into understanding their players, their preferences, and their potential, as this lays the foundation for effective communication and successful coaching.
Continuous Learning: Coaches must constantly expand their knowledge and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and terminology in basketball. This continuous learning enables coaches to provide the best guidance and support to their players.
Impactful Communications: Effective communication is key in coaching. Coaches should not only focus on conveying information accurately but also strive to motivate and inspire their players through clear and impactful communication.
π₯ BONUS π₯ - DRILL OF THE WEEK
STEP 1: The coach will roll the ball out and say "go". On "go" the players will sprint for the ball. Whoever gets it first is on offense, while the other team becomes the defense. Play until a stop or a score.
STEP 2: Be sure to teach the offense how to find an early advantage. If they have it, use it. If no immediate advantage is created, the offense can then use a ball screen, dribble handoff, or other action to create an advantage.
STEP 3: Play to 11, all shots counting as 1, and an assisted basket counting as 2. The winning team must hit a free throw to validate the win. On a missed free throw their team score will reset to 8.
